Company A
isaac A Hill - Private
Isaac Amasa Hill was 16 years old when he enlisted in the Army. His unit was primarily used for guarding railroads, and other infrastructure. We have a letter in our possession about his exploits. He had the opportunity to meet Abe Lincoln who he described as the ugliest man he ever met. He went on to speak of President Lincoln's wit, and that he asked Isaac how old he was. Isaac once overslept and lost his unit, and looked like crazy to find them. He was the unit barber. He got very sick once, and described an ear infection which made life very difficult for him. He also spoke of his unit running into a Cavalry unit headed up by General Nathan Bedford Forrest. When he got out of the Army he became a Constable and a farmer, and had a long and prosperous life.
