1.Henry J. Small a private in Company 'F' of the 40th Regiment of the Wisconsin Infantry Volunteers was enlisted into military service on the 26th day of May 1864, by Capt. Augustus J. Cherry of Bloomfield, Wis. for a term of 100 days was mustered into the military service of the United States on the 8th day of June, 1864, by Lieut. J. H. Purcell at Madison Wisconsin. The records list his place of residence as Bloomfield, Walworth County Wisconsin. He died of Renal Calculus in a field hospital on the 9th day of July, 1864, at Memphis Tennessee. Records indicate that he was buried in Section 2, Grave 395 (#4673) Mississippi River Cemetery near Memphis.
