Aaron died 15 Oct 1863. My question? Did he die in battle? If so, where? Did he die from wounds received earlier? Where would he have been fighting? He is buried at St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Hudson's Crossroads, VA.

John Nicholas Lawson - Corporal
|
John N. Lawson - confederate war veteran - 58th Virginia Milita Company A, and 97th Virginia Milita, Company H. Served as a soldier in Civil War for 4 years. Action against the men of General Meade at Gettysburg in July 1863. (Note married during war) Wounded in the leg in one of various battles in the Valley of Virginia.. Pension Rolls of Virginia Confederate Veterans, #2882 on Act Dec 31, 1903. Signed by John N. Lawson on May 6, 1908. Cause of disability hernia caused by truss.
John Nicholas Lawson, David Lawson, and Emanual Lawson (all brothers) were Confederate war veterans.
John Nicholas Lawson enlisted on July 4, 1861 with Company H, 2nd Regiment, 7th Bridage, 97th Virginia Milita ( Col. Mann Spitlers Va Milita). He served July 25, 1861 - Sep 11, 1861; and Dec 31, 1861- Mar 15, 1862. He enlisted as a Private, and promoted to Corporal on Aug 22, 1861. He was reported AWOL on 2 July 1861, and listed as a deserter on 21 July 1861. Suspect this was misunderstanding because he was listed as present on 21 July 1861. He enlisted in Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, VA - along with his brothers. From Dec 31, 1861 - 15 Mar 1862 he was assigned to Compamy A, 4th Regiment, 7th Brigade, 58th Virginia Milita.
The 97th Regiment Virgina Milita (also known as Colonel Mann Spitlers Regiment) and 2nd Regiment, 7th Brigade Virgina Milita was called out by proclamation of thr Governor of Virginia dated July 13, 1861. Col Splitler's command consisted of all milita by proclamation by the Governor of Virginia, dated 13 July 1861, under the requisition from the President of the C.S., calling into immediate service the milita of all counties north of the James River and east of the Blue Ridge, as well as all milita in the valley north of the James River. .proclaimed by Adjutant Generals Office, Richmond dated Dec 14, 1861
