James H. Lindsay was in Co.B 11th Virginia Infantry, Kemper's Brigade, Longstreet's Division. He had three brothers, Thomas and John T., who where in the 28th Virginia Infantry and Daniel, who was in Latham's Battery and was killed in action at Petersburg, VA.

My great-great-great-grandfather was George E. Mason. George enlisted on March 25, 1862. He died at Williamsburg on May 5, 1862. He was from Campbell County Virginia.

My 1st cousin (5x removed)...enlisted as a private, mustered out as Sergeant. Was taken prisoner at Five Forks.

At age 23, enlisted as Sergeant, promoted to Full Lieutenant 4 months later, wounded at Williamsburg, killed at Fraser's Farm before the Battle of Richmond.

Daniel was searching for his brother Nathan as soon as he arrived in Richmond on 28th of May where he fought in the Seven Days Battle. Unknown to him his unit although both boys were in the 11th VA Co F was separated by enlistment dates. It wasnt until two weeks later that he learned of his brothers death only 1 mile from his position. Daniel was severely wounded on Jul 3rd in Pickett's charge at Cemetery Ridge between 3:25 and 3:35. He was removed to the general hospital at Adams, PA and died on Jul 27th there. He is now buried at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA where the Confederate soldiers were sent when the Gettysburg Cemetery became a National Cemetery.

I am searching for more info on his death during the Seven Days Battle. I have a general idea of the location and burial. He is believed to have been gravely wounded at Fair Oaks and buried in the mass confederate grave there.

He is on my Paternal Grandmothers side of the family.

James Harvey Reynolds was age 21 and had been born and lived in Glencarlyn, Arlington, Virginia all his life. He went to Alexandria to ride the Orange and Alexandria railroad the 27 miles to Mannassas to elist on July 3, 1861.

This Great-Great Grandfather was with one of the three regiments making up the brigade led by James Longstreet in the engagement at Blackburn's Ford on July 18, 1861. These troops succeeded in keeping Union troops from crossing Bull Run and ultimately routed them, just as the larger federal force would be routed four days later at the Battle of First Manassas.

Looking for any information on my relative. He was married to Cassandra Creasey Born Feb. 1832 and died Feb. 19, 1907.
James was born Nov. 1833 and died Aug. 1, 1900.

Charles enlisted in the Confederate Army on June 17, 1862 at the age of 23, mustering in at Manassas, VA on June 21, 1862. He was assigned to the 11th Virginia Infantry Regiment, Co. I and served as a Clerk until he was promoted to Sergeant late 1864 or early 1865, receiving $11.00 a month on April 21, 1864. He was listed as a POW on April 1, 1865 at Five Forks, VA, and he was taken to Point Lookout Prison in Maryland and then released on June 11, 1865 when he took the oath of allegiance. Charles' parole state that he had fair complexion, with Light Brown hair and Light Blue eyes. He was 5' 10 1/2' in height. He died December 5, 1925 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA in the Confederate Section.

Norman enlisted in the service on May 25, 1861 in Morrisville, Virginia as a Private, in Company I, 11th Infantry Regiment Virginia, and mustered in on June 14, 1861 in Manassas, Virginia. He was a farmer at the time. In 1862 he was promoted to Full Sergeant. He was promoted to Full Lieutenant on March 19, 1864. However on May 15, 1864 he was confined at Fort Delaware, DE listed as a POW on May 21, 1864 at Milford Station, Virginia. Norman took the Oath Allegiance on June 16, 1865 at Fort Delaware, DE and was released.

Enlisted as a Private on 25 May 1861 at the age of 31.
Promoted to Corporal on 27 August 1861.
Killed on 5 May 1862 at Willamsburg, VA.

Enlisted Oct 16 1863 and died at Drewerys Bluff

When Charles Samuel PARKS was born on June 3, 1842, in Virginia, his father, Samuel Goode, was 38 and his mother, Amanda Theresa, was 22. He was the third child of five brothers and two sisters. His older brother however died at the age of one year, before Charles was born. His father was not a farmer, but engaged in 'commerce'. In 1850, his father is listed as being a teacher. He was born into a slave holding family. In 1840 his father owned four slaves, a woman aged 24-36, a woman aged10-24, and one boy and one girl under ten years old. In 1860 his father owned six slaves, one woman age 29, a man age 18, and four children aged 15, 7, 5, and 3.

Charles Samuel Parks must have traveled from his home in Botetourt County, Virginia to enlist in the Confederate army at age 19 on July 24, 1861 in Manassas with Company K, 11th Virginia Infantry Regiment, (which was raised in his hometown of Lynchburg in May of that year) shortly after the first Battle of Manassas/Bull Run on July 21, a decisive Confederate victory and the first major land battle of the war. He may have wanted to join quickly, before the war was over. He was promoted from the ranks to Corporal on October 7, 1861, and sent to the hospital on October 20. He was hospitalized October 26 with measles, and furloughed until November 30. After returning, over the next 18 months his regiment fought at Drainsville, Williamsburg, Seven PInes, Fraysers Farm, Second Manassas/Bull Run, Boonsborough, Sharpesville/Antitem, Fredricksburg, and Gettysburg.

July 2. Arrived about sunset and bivouacked on the western border of Spangler’s Woods.

July 3. In the forenoon formed line in the field east of the woods with right flank near Spangler’s Barn. At the close of the cannonade advanced and took part in Longstreet’s assault upon the Union position in the vicinity of the Angle. Exposed to a severe fire of artillery and vigorously assailed beyond the Emmitsburg Road by infantry on the right flank with ranks thinned and much disorganized by its losses especially of officers it pressed on against the Union line at the stone wall where after a fierce encounter the struggle ended. Gen. J. L. Kemper fell wounded in front of the stone wall.

July 4. Spent the day in reorganization and during the night began the march to Hagerstown.

In November, in his company muster roll his is listed as captured on July 3rd at Gettysburg, one month after his 21st birthday.

He does not appear in any lists of POWs, and continues to be listed on his Company Muster Roll as captured by the enemy until the end of the war. If captured at Gettysburg, he may have ended as most of the Gettysburg Confederate POWs did at Fort Delaware, where he likely died in the hellish conditions of Civil War prisoner of war facilities of infectious disease weakened by cold and malnutrition. He certainly could have been one of the many soldiers whose identities and deaths at Gettysburg were not noted and whose bodies were hastily buried decomposing in the July sun in field graves near where they died. In any event his death has been unmarked and unrecorded, his body not recovered or identified, and his name appears on no plaques honoring the Confederate dead.
