Samuel Paul Fulton was my maternal g-grandfather. He was born in 1831 in Green Co., Alabama.
He enlisted 6 August 1863 in Fayette County, Texas, and was assigned to Co. C (cavalry), 22nd Brigade, commanded by BG William G. Webb.
It is possible that Webb's 22nd Brigade was transferred to the command of a Confederate States general, for in December 1863, with the rank of captain in the Confederate States Army, he recruited his own unattached company of cavalry of men exempt from conscription. Samuel Paul Fulton's military records indicated that the brigade was transferred to 'CSA.'
