My relative was part of the 3rd Tennessee Provisional Army, led by Col Vaughn. They fought at the first Manassas and later when led by Col. Lillard at Vicksburg. The unit eventually became the 3rd TN. Mounted Infantry. James died of smallpox at Vicksburg. He was born in Jefferson County, TN., the son of Henry and Amy Gann. He lived in Monroe County, TN. when he enlisted.

I'm intested in speaking to anyone with pics of troops from the 3rd TN. I'm trying to determine what type of uniform my ancestor would have worn. Also, if you are related along this line, please contact me.
