Wounded at the Battle of Beverly Ford, in Virginia, it took 30 years of correspondence with the War Dept., before he was granted a pension.Since the money was retroactive, he was quite ''wealthy'' for a short time before he died, in his early 80''s.

Company L
Hugh Brannan
- Private
Hugh was originally in Company C but then transferred to Company L. Hugh was captured and sent to Andersonville on 5/10/1864. He was later sent to Camp Lawton GA. He was originally in the 24th PA Infantry (3 months) at the start of the war. There is an article in the newspaper (Phila. Press) that states that he had a confrontation with Captain Thomas Smythe of the 24th PA Infantry. He was scheduled to be court martialed but I have found no records of it. He ended up in this cavalry regiment for the rest of the war.
