Company C
John W Ferguson - Private
John Ferguson is my great great grandfather. I found out that he was a memeber of this regiment from his pension records. He was given a pension due to injuries he received at Bermuda Hundred. From the application it appears that he fell in a ditch/trench while taking rations to the front. The pension record is consistent with the infomation on the regiment. This regiment was a hundred day regiment. It was only active 100 days. It was to be used mainly as a labor unit for digging ditches and freeing up longer serving units for fighting the army of Nothern Virginia.
His obit is below. John Ferguson and his wife purchased a farm just outside of the town of Mechanicsburg located in Champaign County Ohio. The farm is still in our family today.

Company G
Henry Crusey (Crusy) - Private
Henry was 18 years old and had immigrated from the Alsace-Lorraine province between France and Germany. The 134th was a 100-day unit from around Shelby County Ohio. Mustered in at Camp Chase, May 6th, 1864, as an Ohio National Guard unit, 867 men, James B. Armstrong colonel; moved for Cumberland, Virginia, via Parkersburg; then to City Point, Virginia, via Washington; engaged in pontooning the river and building roads, June 17th engaged the enemy at Port Walthall, during the assault on Petersburg; loss, two killed, three wounded, June 22d moved to north side James, assigned to Second Brigade, Third Division, Tenth Army Corps; for seventy days entrenching and on picket duty on advanced line toward Richmond; mustered out at Camp Chase, August 31st, 862 men, Colonel Armstrong commanding. (From: The Military History of Ohio. by H.H. Hardesty)

However, I have not been able to substantiate the assignment of the 134th to the 2d Bde, 3d Div, 10th Corps, Army of the James. Rosters of units assigned that I've found do not reflect the 134th.

This link lists all the members of the 134th. http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/regiments.cfm Henry's name is spelled Crusy on the muster
