Edward Dougherty - Private
Edward Dougherty enlisted in the 116th OVI on 16th Aug.1862, he fought in the Virginia and West Virginia area of the war. He served for three years and mustered out at Richmond Va. 14 June 1865. Records show that he was in the hospital several times during his tour of duty. He was 5''11'' in Hgt., fair complection, blue eyes and black hair. He was the son of Daniel II and Mary Drum Dougherty and lived his life in the Edwina area of Wayne Twp. Monroe County Ohio. He was mar. 1st to Helen m Jackson, after her death he mar. Hettie E. Shutts. Edward died 25 Apr.1912 of general parslysis and bur. in the Dougherty Cem. , Washington Twp, Monroe Co., Ohio age 72y 7m 5dy.

Andrew C. Cagg - Private
Enlisted August 1862 at age of 39 in Athens County Ohio. Present for duty on all muster rolls until wounded during the Battle of Piedmont,Virginia on 5 June 1864 and captured at Staunton, Virginia on 10 June 1864. P.O.W. at Andersonville, GA initially and then transferred to the Confederate prison stockade at Florence,SC. Died at Florence of colitus on 7 January 1865. Buried in the National Cemetery at Florence.Brother-in-law Private Reason O.Risley and youngest step son Edward P. Henshaw also served in Company K of the 116th with him. Reason was captured during the 2nd Battle of Winchester (June 1863)but paroled and exchanged a short while later.He served out the war without a wound and was honorably discharged in 1865. Edward was also wounded during the Battle of Piedmont, captured at Staunton and imprisoned at Andersonville. He died at Andersonville.
