Charles Peter Hanson

Documents in the CW pension records state that Lt. Charles P Hanson enrolled Sept 7, 1862 and received a sabre wound on or about 8 day of February, 1863 about two miles from Stafford Court House where he was detailed with a squad of men to dig trenches, and was attacked by a number of reble cavalry. He was discharged from the unit (probably due to the wound) on February 25th. Lt. Hanson also served at the beginning of the war as a Private in the 8th New York Militia which participated in the first Battle of Bull Run.

Enlisted at age 16 (presumably with his father, Nathan). Family history says he was a drummer boy. Wounded and captured at Chancellorsville as a result of Stonewall Jackson's flank attack. Rejoined his regiment in October 1863. Jan 1864 transferred to the 150th NY when the 145th was disbanded.
