Was mustered out with Co A 43rd Missouri Infantry at Benton Barracks, St. Louis on June 30, 1865, by Adjunct General of Missouri, S. P. Simpson.

He was honorably discharged from service.

Abarr died June 19, 1936 in Redding IA.

In the early part of the Civil war John raised a comp[any of union soldiers in the township in which h e lived and enlisted in the union army becoming First Lieutenant of Company F 43, Missouri Volunteer Infantry, and served with his company until the close of the war and was mustered out at Benton Barracks, Missouri.
