Andrew was about 45 years old when he enlisted 1 Aug 1862 at Ripley, Tappah Co. Miss in 1st Regiment Partisan Rangers. Enlisted for 3 years by W. C Falkner. On 1 Aug 1864 this unit became Co B 7th Miss. Cavalry. Andrew provide his own horse and was paid 24 cents per day for its use. Andrew survived the invasion and died 22 Jan 1878 in Ripley, Miss. He is kin related thru marriage to my 3rd cousin 5 x removed.

Calvin was born 23 July 1846. The 1860 census has him at 13 years old and in Tippah Co. Miss. The Post Office is at Hickory, Flat. He has two cards in his archival file. He enlists in June of 1863 in Duckworth's 7th Miss. Cavalry. He served until the end of the war. His regiment rode with General Nathan Bedford Forrest in his raids into Middle Tenn. Notably at the battle of Tishmoingo Creek aka Brice's Crossroads. aka Gun Town. which was a Confederate victory. Capture of Athens Alabama, battles at Franklin, West Point, Tuscaloosa, and Scottsville Ala. 1 April 1865. Served as rear guard for Gen. Hood on his withdrawal 18th - 28th 1864. His regiment surrendered a Citronella, Ala. and paroled at Gainsville 11 May 1865.

William applied for a CSA pension from DeLeon Springs, Comanche Co Texas. He stated his service was with a Capt H L Duncan Cavalry . Enlisted in March 1863 when he was about 16 and discharged in 1864. His records have been destroyed. A witness who served with him testified to his service. A Pvt. W. G Owens who swore that he and William had fought in several battles together. William was the 2nd husband of my 3rd cousin 4 x removed. Frances e Thomas. She lost her first husband to the war also. Pvt. William B Fulks.

Albert Monroe Johnston served in Co K 22nd Mississippi Infantry until wounded at the the battle of Corinth, Miss. in Oct 1862.
He returned to duty in late 1863.
His gunshot wound to the thigh required his transfer to cavalry. In Feb 1864 he was transferred to Capt Duncan's
Company F 1st Miss. Partisan Rangers which became the 7th Mississippi Cavalry. He served until the surrender with this unit.

Pvt. John Fields in Co. I, 7th Mississippi Cavalry (McKenzie''s Company). Enlisted Feb 16, 1863 in Pontotoc, MS along with his son James. According to his CMSR ''The 7th Regiment Mississippi Cavalry was organized August 1, 1862, as the 1st Regiment Mississippi Partisan Rangers, was temporarily disbanded November 15, 1862, and re-organized March 1, 1863. The designation was changed August 1, 1864 to the 7th Regiment Mississippi Cavalry by S.O. No. 169 A.&I.G.O. dated July 19, 1864.'' Two company muster rolls for Feb/Mar 1863 and July 1 - Oct 31 1864 include John Fields as a Private. The latter muster roll indicates that he was ''absent'' ''At Hospt''. According to Matilda Fields widows pension application, John Fields served until the end of the war and surrendered at Okolona, MS.
