NOT my ancestor, but the ancestor of a friend of the family, currently residing in Hampstead, NH: AUGUSTUS G. MORRISON was a 21 year old shoemaker from Haverhill, Mass.; he enlisted as a Private on 20 Aug. 1864, and served in Co. M of the 4th Mass. H. Art'y Rgt.; he was mustered-into Federal service on 20 Aug. 1864; in the winter of 1864-65, he and the 4th Mass. H. Art'y Rgt. were assigned to the 22nd Corps, garrisoning the Defenses of Washington, DC, where they served till the end of the war; Pvt. MORRISON was mustered-out of Federal service, and Honorably Discharged with his regiment on 17 Jun. 1865. NOTE: he had prior service in Co. G of the 50th Mass. Inf. Rgt., and served with that regiment in the Port Hudson Campaign.
