He entered a PVT 21st(Patton's) Inf. Regt.. prmoted a few times, to Sergeant before Vicksburg Campain. Paroled to Enterprise Ms. where he became apart of the La. 22nd consolidated Infantry Regt.. Co. E was his. Used Confederate records to confirm this. At Vicksburg, he was transferred to the 23rd Inf Regt. for 3 months then was suppose to go back to the 21st, however, the surrender of Vicksburg got in the way. Prisoners of War who wish to be exchanged. Exchanged from Steamer Louis d'Or,near Baton Rouge, La., Oct. 9, 1862. The 1st of 3 time he was a prisoner
