Bryan Henry is my great-great-grandfather. He was born in Ireland and emigrated to America as a young man. He was shot through the chest at the Battle of Wilson's Creek and reported as KIA. He was captured by the Confederates, escaped and somehow made his way back to his home in Wyandotte (now Kansas City) Kansas, a distance of over 150 miles. He recovered from his wound, rejoined his regiment and served through the rest of the Civil War.
