William Goben - Private
William Goben was my great, great grandfather's older brother. He joined the 6th Iowa Cavalry on Sept. 9th, 1864 and was sent west to fight Indians. Because of his young age, the Army was given written consent to join by his father, Hugh Goben. He is buried in Polk City, Iowa.

My Great Great Grandfather born 1834 in Ireland and in 1842 as a stowaway on ship arrived in New York.
Age: 30 - Residence: Cascade - Nativity: Ireland - Enlisted: 23 September 1862 - Mustered: 13 November 1862 - Discharged: 13 April 1864 Sioux City, Iowa. Moved to Nodaway County, Missouri after the war then to Oklahoma Indian territory during the land rush of 1889. He died there on December 4, 1904 prior to Oklahoma becoming a state.

Andrew Jackson Butts was born in Lawrence, New York. When he
was very young the family moved to Iowa, settling near Monona, Iowa in Clayton County. He joined the service to fight in the Civil War, and in so doing had to leave a young wife and five small children behind. An injury he received in the war caused him to be crippled for the rest of his life and he was
restricted to light work from then on.

Andrew Olsen Sorlie - Private
Endre Olsen Sørlie (later Andrew O. Sorlie) was born in Hallingdal, Norway, 21 Oct 1843. He emigrated in 1860 and enlisted on 11 Oct 1862, mustered in 10 Nov 1862, mustered out 17 Oct 1865 at Sioux City, Iowa. He married Ingrid Olsdatter Ulness on 3 Dec 1872 at East Paint Creek Lutheran Church, Waterville, Iowa. They farmed at Lansing, Allamakee Co., Iowa. He died 2 Feb 1916 and is buried in Oak Hill cemetery, Lansing.

my great-great grandfather, Enoch Kaster b 29 Oct 1837 Sabina Co., OH son of Hiram and Clarrisa (Cary) Kaster, m 7 Oct 1860 Delaware Co IA to Malinda Davis. Mustered in Jan 31, 1863, at his request he was reduced to Pvt May 1, 1863, mustered out Oct 17, 1865. He died 5 Nov 1886 Washington Co. KS, buried Joy Creek cemetery, Washington Co. KS. (tombstone has error of death date showing 1887, pension records shows error)
