On February 13, 1865, at Jeffersonville, Indiana, William Robertson enlisted in Co. B, 144th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment for one year. He received 33 1/3rd dollars of a 100 dollar bounty for enlisting. William was 18 years old and recorded as being 6 feet tall with black eyes and black hair.

Lyndon Boyd (born 7/22/1823, died 2/10/1895) was my great grandfather. He came to Indiana in 1859 from Randolph City, North Carolina, and enlisted in Company F on Feb 6, 1865. Lyndon's grandfather, William Boyd (1758 - 1831), was a Revolutionary War veteran (1777 - 1780). Lyndon's son Dr. Joseph Lyndon Boyd (1873 - 1930) was my grandfather, and Joseph Lyndon Boyd Jr. (1914 - 1988) was my father.
