Silas Wilson Irby

Silas (1838-1920) and brothers John and Charles all originally from Switzerland County, Indiana, served in various Indiana units during the War. Silas enlisted as a Sergeant on August 20, 1863 and mustered out on Feb. 25, 1864. He also served in the 54th Indiana Infantry (1862) and the 149th Indiana Infantry (1865). He migrated with his wife and children to Kansas sometime between 1870 and 1875. He is buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, Montgomery County, Kansas.
