Robert H Gooding (Goodwin) - Private

The only record I have is his Pension papers that show his mother filed in 1880. It states he was in company H of the 88th Indiana Infantry, but when I checked online roosters, the closest I get is a Robert Goodwin, which I found died at first battle of Perryville, KY but not finding any other records, not even an enlistment record.

His cousin, George Henry, also of Co. H, joined there as well. Albert served at the battle of Perryville, KY, and Stones River, TN. He died of disease in camp near Murfreesboro on February 3, 1862, after the battle. He is my Great Grand Uncle.

William H Loomis was born in 1840 at Medina, County, Ohio. He moved for a short time with his mother Betsey Andrews Loomis to Indiana where he enlisted into the 88th regiment Co.K with in a few months William being sick in the hospital deserted. He then returned to Medina,County and two years later married Portia Fifield. I have recently discovered that William married Portia under the alias of Adam Beatty. William and his family then moved from state to state. All five of his children were each born in a different state. William died in Union Town, Kansas in 1880.
