George Monroe SCOTT born on 10 April 1841 in Putnam County, Indiana. George enlisted at 20 years of age as a private in John T. Campbell's Company H, 21st Regiment Indiana Volunteers. He enlisted at Indianapolis, Indiana on July 24, 1861 for a term of 3 years. He was discharged from the Army at Baton Rouge, Louisiana on January 13, 1866 when his company was discharged from active service. At the time of discharge he was a corporal.

William Henderson Scott was born on 13 March 1839. William enlisted in Company H, Twenty-First Regiment Indiana Infantry, July 24, 1861, at Indianapolis. According to his volunteer re-enlistment paper dated January 1, 1864. William mustered out of the military January 13, 1866 with the rank of 1st Sergeant. William was the brother of George Monroe Scott who also served in Company H.
