Charles W. Irby - Private
Charles and brothers John and Silas all from Switzerland County, Indiana, served in various Indiana units during the War. Charles acted as a calvary scout in early 1862 in Maryland while serving with the 3rd Indiana Cavalry. While scouting in Maryland he became seriously ill after being caught in a snowstorm. He was discharged due to this medical illness on April 20, 1862.

Charles re-enlisted with the 115th Infantry. He mustered in on August 3, 1863 in Perrysville, Indiana. He mustered out on Feb. 25, 1864.

He died on May 5, 1864 due to a pulmonary disease (consumption or pneumonia). He is buried next to his brother John in Eugene Cemetery, Eugene, Vermillion County, Indiana.

George W Kearns - Private
George W. Kearns, born Eaton, Preble County, Ohio on 18 April 1847, died in Kahoka, Missouri, 6 August 1916. Buried Kahoka Cemetery, Kahoka, Missouri.
At the age of 15 years he joined Co E. 115th Indian Volunteers.
His brother, Pvt. Joseph Abraham Kearns served in Co E, 43rd Indiana and was captured April 1864, served 10 months in Camp Ford, Tyler, Texas. After the war returned home to Eaton, Preble County, Ohio and soon died of pneumonia. Joseph is buried at Antioch Cemetery in Eaton.

Richard moved to Texas and married Martha Wesson. They had 3 children Jouh, Eli and Lillie. He is buried in Nemo, Texas according to family records but I have never been able to find his grave. Martha is buried in Beaver Creek Cemetary near Electra, Texas.

Richard is my wife's Great Grand Father.
