Solomon joined at Magnolia, Ill. Sept. 6, 1862 and mustered in at Camp Peoria Jan. 7, 1863 He was in on the capture of Morgams Raiders in Ohio.He mustered out July 31, 1865 in Pulaski Tenn. He is buried in Coal Center, Pa.

My 2G-grandmother's 1st Cousin.

Born Oct 19, 1840, White County Ill.
Died Feb 11, 1936, Carmi, White County Ill.

On 19 August 1887, James lost his right arm due to the accidental premature discharge of a cannon he was loading during a sham battle.

John Jacob Shirk - Private
John Jacob Shirk served in the Civil War with the 14th Illinois Cavalry Regiment, Illinois Volunteer, Company K, mustered to active duty with the Union forces in January 1863. He signed up for duty in Brookville in Ogle County, Illinois. He was officially mustered out at Nashville, Tennessee on July 31, 1865 at the completion of the war. Both John and his younger brother Daniel are listed on a Civil War memorial in Oregon, Illinois.

When he enlisted, he was listed as being 37 years old, 5'8' tall and having dark hair, blue eyes and light complexion. His occupation was listed as farrier and said he was born in Pennsylvania.

Thomas Cordell - Private
From Cherokee County, North Carolina. Born 1846. Joined 1Apr 1864 in Tellico, TN. for 3 yrs. Mustered in at Loudan,TN on 7 May 1864.
Name misspelled on muster as Cordial. Cordell is given birth name. Discharged 15 May 1865. Died in hospital from mortal wounds before discharge. The rest of his brothers fought with the Confederacy.
