Company A
John Moore - Private
Pvt. John Moore was my G Grandfather. He enlisted in Co. A on August 23, 1862, at age 18. He served with his unit as a mail carrier until near the end of the war. Moore stated in his pension application that he was not with his unit at the time of surrender because 'General Lee sent me off to recruit horses did not get back before surrender.' John Moore died in 1918 and is buried at Cow Creek Cemetery in Statenville, Echols County, GA.

John J. Manning - Private
This is my Gr-Gr-Granddad who mustered into the 20th Georgia Cavalry Co. 'D' in 1862 from Colquitt Co., Georgia. He was wounded in Sept. 1863 when a horse drawn wagon ran over his right foot and ankle crushing the bones in the foot and ankle which crippled him for the rest of his life. He applied for and received a war pension from the State of Georgia in Nov. 1897 until his death on Nov 27, 1900.
