Sep 1840 – May 31, 1899. He had a fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, and stood 5’ 10”. He enlisted Jun 1, 1861 at age 21. Took leave around Nov 1861. He was admitted to the Episcopal Church Hospital in Williamsburg VA on Aug 19, 1862 for typhoid fever and he returned to duty on Aug 28, 1862. Captured at Five Forks on Apr 1, 1865 and arrived at City Point on Apr 5, 1865. He was released from Point Lookout Md on Jun 27, 1865 after taken the oath of allegiance. Parents: • Thomas Fort 1807 – 1881 son of John Fort, son of Morning Melvin Fort Rice, daughter of Daniel James Melvin and Jane Thomas. • Mary Jane “Polly” Reeves 1808 – 1865
