John Henry Walker, Born: 14 Sep 1824, Died: 22 Dec 1915, enlisted as a Private on 24 May 1861 and mustered into Company B, 38th Virginia Infantry Regiment, Confederate States of America. John was wounded in right buttock and taken prisoner during Pickett's Charge at the Battle of Gettsburg on 03 Jul 1863. He was later returned to his regiment in an exchange of prisoners between the North and South. He was wounded again on 16 May 1864 during the Battle of Drewry's Bluff, Virginia. John Henry Walker Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 24 May 1861. Admitted on 17 Apr 1862 at Chimboraza Hospital, Richmond, VA. Detailed as Company Cook on 15 Sep 1862. Returned to regular duty on 03 May 1863. Wounded in right buttock during Battle of Gettsburg, PA on 03 Jul 1863 and taken prisoner. Confined on 05 Jul 1863 at Fort McHenry, MD. Transfered on 12 Jul 1863 to Fort Delaware, MD. Paroled on 30 Jul 1863 at Fort Delaware, MD. Admitted on 29 Aug 1863 to hospital in Farmville, VA for wound in right buttock. Furloughed for 30 days on 08 Sep 1863. Back on Rolls on 01 Apr 1864. Wounded, gunshot to right leg, on 16 May 1864 during Battle of Drewry's Bluff, VA. Admitted to hospital at Howard's Grove, VA on 17 May 1864. Furloughed for 60 days 0n 25 May 1864. Back on rolls on 01 Jan 1865.
