Born 16 Dec 1820 in Hardin Co, TN. Married about 1852 in Marion Co., AL to Martha Ann Simms. Died 2 June 1897 in Marion Co., AL. Sources: 1850 Census - Marion Co., AL (Family 59...see also families 58 & 55) 1860 Census - Marion Co., AL (Pg. 7, Family No. 48) 1870 Census - Marion Co., AL (East. Dist. Pg. 31, Family No. 213) Book: 'Tombstones of Marion Co., AL' Death Certificate of Isabella Roberts Caddell in Clay Co., TX. Tombstones in the Old Roberts Cemetery. This is located on a hill behind a farmhouse and is completely grown over. It is very difficult to get to and is easily missed. There are four marked graves and 17 field stones. These are the children and grandchildren of Joshua Roberts. They include three sets of twins. This cemetery is behind the Old Roberts house site and approximately 100' from an old road originally the road from Winfield to Jasper. Information on this was supplied by Mr. A.C. Carter. Location of Old Roberts Cem.: Travel East from Winfield on U.S. 78. Turn South (Right) on Hwy 129 going 1.4 miles to Glen Allen. Continue 1.6 miles on Hwy 233. The Cemetery is located south of the highway on top of hill behind R.J. Carter's house. He was in Co. A, 42nd Alabama Infantry. They fought in the following campaigns and battles.
