enlisted at Gauley Bridge, then in VA, captured in Waynesboro (in 1865), sent to Fort Delaware. Was given a field commission to Lt. on Aug 15, 1863(of which I have a copy, along with his officer's recommendation). His correspondence with family menbers (in Maryland) remained as family oral history through the past generation, (tried to enlist their help to get him out of POW prison). He returned to southwest VA raised a family, three boys, William Price (1873-1968), Francis Marvin (1874-1960), Abraham Wesley (1877-1965) and one girl, Mary Eyler. He went to Emory & Henry College, graduated 1870, became a preacher/farmer like his father, 1881 he died of TB, was buried in the Price family (wife's family)cemetery just outside of Glade Springs in SW Virginia. His grave marker is marked 'Rev.' Francis Buhrman, just like his father's. Married Virginia Crabtree Price (1844-1932). Father was Abraham (buried near Eagle Rock in Botetourt County, along with brother Adam C Buhrman. His father served in 'Local Defense'. He was my great grandfather, Abraham Wesley Buhrman, Sr the fourth child was my grandfather, and Abraham Wesley Buhrman, Jr., the first of six children, was my father. It is thought that Francis' log cabin is now near the campus of Emory and Henry College in Emory, Va. I can't verify that, on a recent trip there, it seemed like everyone had one in their backyard.
