Brian, seems that according to official Russian sites there has been little protest!  Don’t know how that squares with the number of arrests.
Nor are these relatively local protests, IMHO. The Barents Observer – thank you, Kai, for introducing it to me! – wrote on 1.23 that protesters in Murmansk were largely unimpeded by security forces:
