Hi Larry,

Nice articles, they give a good account of the bottom line of the battle, & the situation with the swollen river! We don't always consider the part that weather plays? But it can be a major factor like it was here at Fredericksburg!?

And how fully the Lancaster newspaper countenances the enormity of the northern loss in the battle : even to the extent of exaggeration, while actually understating the rebel loss. How often has that happened in modern times ?
Again, it implies a robust democracy, that allows for such a candid exposition of disaster on the battlefield.
