Good morning
I have been reading my father in laws service record and would like to try and map his service.
I need help please.
When he enlisted he was in the 73rd Searchlight Regiment. He spent four years at home and then 16months (Jan 45 - June 46) in NW Europe. His record says 'Posted to Draft RERSS' on 22.01.45. There are so many movings about and I cannot understand all the writing.
He was a driver / mechanic and later is a gunner. He told us he drove tanks and flattened Archen. In his things he has postcards and photos of Hamburg and a booklet on Goslar.
Is there any way I can decipher all this information and get a feel of where he spent his time in Germany?
Any help or guidance would be appreciated please. Many thanks Carol
