WWII Enlistment Help
|
I have an uncle who had served in WWII. I have a photo or two of him in his uniform, but I do not know what unit he was in, did he serve overseas, etc.
I know he entered on April 9 (1942? - Don't know.) and was at Camp Hood, Texas. I assume he enlisted from Connecticut.
Is there any site I can go on and find out more information without becoming a member?
Thanks for any help.

WWII Enlistment Help

Most all US Army enlistments from the ww2 years can be found here https://aad.archives.gov/aad/series-description.jsp?s=3360&cat=all&bc=sl
If you know where your uncle resided when he came home after discharge, you might want to check with the county or city circuit court for his Enlisted Record of Separation, what is now called a DD214. Many veterans were advised to file their separation record with the court registrar and more than just a few did so.
