Hey CW posters,

The title of the post brings to mind that the 4th of July 1863, had to be a huge positive for the Union with great victories in both Gettysburg, & Vicksburg!? Best military day ever??!? What say you??

Also I mentioned earlier how Longstreet , felt the charge to the Union center was doomed to failure! Do you think that a fair amount of the Confederate soldier felt the same? Thus affecting their attack?? Anyone??

What say you?
Regards,
MD

BTW, In this article I agree that Meade performed well in this great victory! Comments??

My guess is most Southern soldiers probably didn't realize the magnitude of what they were attempting until the artillery bombardment ended and they began their march across the fields towards the Union positions. Even then the vast majority of ANV troops involved made a heroic effort.

Larry.
