John Mcleod Turner did survive is Gettysurg wound and lived until 1882.

Plot Cenotaph, Confederate Cemetery (Sec: 2 Lot: GA).Confederate officer. Captain, Company F, 7th North Carolina - May 16, 1861; Major - May 3, 1863; Lt. Col. - November 28, 1864; wounded at Fredericksburg Second Manassas; wounded and captured at Gettysburg, exchanged September 1864; Paroled Salisbury, N.C. - May 1, 1865.

The monument states that he is buried in another state. Cemetery records state that his remains were later brought back to North Carolina and buried here.
