Isaac was my g-great uncle, a brother to my great grandfather, John Harrison Alvis. He was from Mercer Co. VA (now WV). He enlisted in Lynchburg VA on June 2, 1861. He was killed during the Battle of Williamsburg on May 5, 1862. I am trying to find out where he is buried.

Although West Virginia was created officially as a 'Union' state in 1863, many of its people continued to view themselves as Virginians and remained loyal to Virginia and the South. The sacrifices of the Confederate soldiers that were from the land that became West Virginia have been forgotten for too long and deserve to be told.
