John Potter was born on 8 Feb 1825 in SC. He appeared on the census in 1830 to 1850 in Spartanburg Co SC. He died on 4 Aug 1905 at Sugarloaf Mountain, Coryell TX. He served in the CSA army with Capt. William Clements as a private in the mounted rangers, in Coryell Co, 28th Brigade TST, enlisting in 1861 at the age of 32. His younger brother also served in this group for 'Protection of the Frontier.'

Thomas was a physician. Born in Wilcox Co. Alabama & living in Rusk, Cherokee Co. Texas. He enlisted as a Pvt at age 35 in Co B Capt. Patrick Henry's Co. Randal's Regiment 1st Texas Lancers. His horse is valued at $175 & Equipment at $25.00. It is 80 miles to rendezvous near Marshall Texas. He is nominated to Assistant Surgeon in May 1863. He served in that position until captured and paroled near New Salem Texas on 13 July 1865. He was my 5th Cousin 4 x removed on my Thomas line.

William was 28 when he enlisted at Brenham, Washington County Texas on 13 June 1862. Joining his brother Thomas in Co B. 29 Jan 1863 the is assigned at a clerk in the A.A.G. Office. On 4 August 1863 he is is appointed the unit Ordinance Sergeant. He died 29 July 1895 in Belton, Bell Co Texas. He is my 5th cousin 4 x removed on my Thomas line. Deo Vindice

Applied for Soldier's Pension Dec 1913, approved March 1,1914.
He died 18 March 1925, Big Spring TX. and is buried in Mt Olive Cemetery, Big Spring TX in our family plot.

Born in Wilcox Co Alabama 9 Aug 1834. He enlisted at Rusk, Cherokee Co Texas on 17 April 1862 and served until the end of the war. He has 5 cards in his archival file and a pension application. He served in Co's B & F 28th Texas Calvary [dismounted] Served the 1st year in Green's Brigade. In Feb 1864 he is on detached duty under Lieut. J. Q. Flinn. He filed for pension 25 Feb 1910 but was denied because he had a mental breakdown and was a patient in Ward 2 Terrell Insane Asylum in Kaufman Co Texas. He is probably buried on hospital grounds. He was my 5rh cousin 4 x removed. God Rest his Soul.

William Daniel Michum was my gggrandfather he was born in the East Hamilton Dist of Shelby Co TX Sept 1846 to NC Native James Mitchum and Elizabeth ? White(first marriage) and died on 1-16-1922 in Watt Limestone Co Tx and is buried in Prairie Hill Cemetery in Limestone Co TX

His wife was Henry Co AL native Mary Ann Whitehurst
she is buried beside him.

There son William 'Willie' Rufus Michum was my ggrandfather.

W. D. Michum, age 76 years, died Monday morning, Jan. 16, at his home in the Watt community. He leaves a wife and three children, W.R and Henry Michum of Watt and Mrs. L.C. Hardison of Personbille. Interment at 11 a.m. Tuesdy at Prairie Hill.
NOTE: Personbille should be Personville

He also had one brother James Mitchum who survived him he is buried in Morris Chapel Cem in Van Zandt Co TX.

His sister Elviry A Mitchum whereabout are unknown

His half sister Susan Ann White Wilkerson Neal is also buried in Morris Chapel. Her stone has no dates just a name Susan Wilkerson

His Brother was Jeremiah 'Jerry' ' Jerre' Mitchum/Michum who also served in Co E 28 Tx Cavalry.

Missioners.He died in Brazil about 1900.His wife was Susanna.I don't know nothing about her.I don't know too, when my ancestor came from German to USA.I think about 1850.

Jacob is a distant cousin of mine. His father was my great great great grandfathers' brother. He came over in the 1850's and settled in Ohio with his parents and siblings then just prior to the War he moved to Texas for anew life and adventures. he emigrated to Brazil after the war.
